WHAT IS CREATIVE PARTNERSHIPS?

  • A government funded programme which forges and strengthens partnerships between schools and the creative sector in the drive to excite children’s creativity and imagination. We foster innovative, long-term partnerships between schools and creative professionals, including architects, scientists, multimedia developers and artists. These partnerships inspire young people, teachers and creative professionals to challenge how they work and experiment with new ideas.
  • It is NOT about compromising the standards agenda but about giving teachers the support and confidence to challenge and develop learning experiences that will produce independent, active and successful citizens of the future

  • A programme which promotes access and training to cultural activities of the highest quality.

Black Country Creative Partnerships is managed by the Black Country Children's Services Improvement Partnership (BCCSIP).

We work with schools from the four Black Country local authorities: Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley as well as Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire.

In 2008/9 Creative Partnerships will be working from a national framework, applied consistently across the country. The framework consists of 3 strands:

- Schools of Creativity

- Change Schools

- Enquiry Schools

Schools of Creativity: There are 30 Schools of Creativity nationally and we are very proud that 4 of these schools are in the Black Country. These schools are: Deansfield High School - Wolverhampton, Leighswood Primary School - Walsall, The Earls High School - Dudley and Trinity CE Primary School - Wolverhampton.

Change Schools: Throughout 2008/9 we are working with 30 Change schools across the Black Country and Telford & Wrekin. In 2009/10 we will be working with a further 2 Shropshire schools which will take our number of Change schools to 32.

Enquiry Schools: Throughout 2008/9 we are working with 70 Enquiry schools across the Black Country, Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire. During 2009/10 we will work with 60 Enquiry schools.
